Confused on what you need? Read on, my friend.
We work primarily with MDF for our products. MDF is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is generally denser than plywood. We use MDF in place of Birch for many reasons. One of the reasons is its SO much more durable than birch. It's perfect for crafting and decorating purposes. Although it does not stain with wood grain, it is a good way to darken your MDF product if you do not wish to paint it. Paint adheres very nicely to MDF. Our favorite: Spray paint. Seriously! It's easy and looks great. Not only is MDF less fragile, it's less tempermental. Birch warps. Try as we might, it happens. Wood is living, it reacts to temperatures very quickly.
We can offer birch, you just need to message us and request this for your product.
is perfect for crafts. It's lightweight and will glue onto just about anything! It has a white layer on the top of it, which in our opinion, makes the tinner material less fragile. WIth the white layer on these, paints don't like to stick too great on them. Exception: Spray paint. These look great with just a quick spray or two. If you are wanting to use acrylics, chalk paints, or any other type of paints, have a clear finishing spray ready to top it off with to seal it up and keep it from chipping. You can also special request to have your order cut on the flip side of the board, which will give you a front of just plain MDF, which will let you paint it with just about any paint you can find.
is AWESOME. It's my favorite. The only exception is when I'm doing intricate work or if I will be mounting it on something. 1/4" is my go-to for most of my cuts though. It's super durable, and looks great hanging on walls, doors, shadow box frames, propped, etc. The 1/4" will come to you just as plain as can be. Ready for any kind of finish you want, or any mixture pinterest has told you to try. ;)
